Who am I?
Having encountered people whom we knew long ago is sometimes interesting because of who they interpret us to be. This also is true in the reverse sense, so much so that identity might be in question for the first few moments of encounter. This situation can exist for a variety of reasons, foremost of which is probably based on appearance, although other factors are certainly involved. Our actions or behavior is probably next in the list of how we relate to those out of our past or how they might view us. For some of us like myself that’s an alarming thought! But I have a saving grace, an explanation if you will.
The Law of Sin
There is no excuse for my unsavory behavior along the path in life, but there is a reason – sin controlled me, I was a compulsory slave to the Law of Sin. The Law of Sin is a fixed absolute – God says so. The Law of Sin has a hard and fast companion, death. Since the Law of Sin is fixed and has an affect on all of mankind by bringing spiritual and physical death, we all need an escape, a remedy. There is only one escape from this Law of sin – to be set free through death and burial then arising into the Spirit of Life in the risen Christ. Our resurrection in Christ does not have to do with the acts of sin but with our former condition of being lost. All of this takes place while our heart continues to beat as the Spirit of God quickens our mortal body. From that moment we are no longer under the verdict of spiritual death or compulsory control of an evil nature. He that has been crucified into Christ is free indeed as stated in Romans 6:6-7 – free to serve a different master, the true and wonderful Jehovah God.
I have a saying which I use frequently in speaking of the actions of myself or others when considering the span of years lived. None of us are the same person we were a decade ago. But a few, according to scripture, have actually become a different person, created as a brand new creation! Few enter this narrow gate where once inside creation of new men and women take place. All others are on the broad path, barely aware of the narrow gate with the narrow path. There is in-depth information available about those who are traveling this narrow path. This information is found on this site under the title The New Race of Man – Part 1.
If we are born again, we are new creations, created by a mysterious act of God which He performed without hands. Note here that no hands signifies there was no man involved in the making of the new man or woman! God shares His glory with no one! Consider what it means to be born again. Are you now two persons or are you a new person? What does God say? Lets see what scripture says in Romans 6:11. Reckon, consider, act on the facts of (Rom 6:7-10) we are dead and raised without sin as was Jesus because we are in Him. This is not some future event in our lives, this is a current fact, a work done by God as He is gathering and preparing a Bride for His Son. In closing this section, a quote from A.W.Tozer is in order. He writes, “We can hold a correct view of truth only by daring to believe everything that He has said about Himself.” It is after all His immutability that is the foundation of our acceptance as His sons! He did not lie when He declared we are new creatures in Christ, He has done a work in which all true believers are made acceptable as a gift to His Son. John 6:37 states “all that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.” Do we doubt or do we believe ourselves to be who God says we are?
